A glacial remnant.
Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, Canada, is a world-renowned, glacially-fed alpine lake famous for its surreal turquoise-blue water, set dramatically in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. Fed by snowmelt and glacier runoff, its vibrant color comes from "rock flour" (glacial silt) refracting sunlight, with water levels peaking in summer. Accessible only by shuttle or tour bus, this iconic spot offers stunning views from the lakeshore and Rockpile Trail, with activities like hiking and canoeing, but is closed to private vehicles from October to June. We were there when you could actually drive to this spot and take pictures. It was a wonderful trip!
