Just outside of Reykjavik, the geothermal heat and electric power station is located here. The plant extracts hot fluid from deep undergound wells; the resulting steam powers turbines to generate electricity. It also co-hosts the Carbfix projects, which captures and mineralizes carbon dioxide by turning it into rock underground.
